Canadian Interest In Arfield

SCOTT ARFIELD ON MLS RADAR

Rundown is a big fan of Sean Dyche. Anybody with a voice like shovelling grit and a handshake which causes as much impact as a minor traffic accident is a good egg in our book. However, one of the Burnley players he has come to depend on over the last several seasons may be on his way to Canada.

Reports in The Sun suggest that Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps, “have shown strong interest” in signing Arfield as a Designated Player. Arfield’s contract with Burnley expires in June 2018, meaning other teams are free to approach him to sign a pre-contract agreement.

Arfield is now 29-years-old and has been with Burnley since 2013. Despite having represented Scotland up to Under-21 level internationally, he switched senior allegiances to Canada and qualifies due to his Toronto-born father.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY WAIVE ELLIS

The road to Chicago Fire or FC Dallas beckons for defender Kevin Ellis after Sporting Kansas City announced that he has been waived, along with forward Zach Wright.

A homegrown player with Sporting, Ellis had been training elsewhere and having trials with both Dallas and Chicago. Due to MLS rules he will be available to all MLS teams in the reverse order of their finishing position last season. Should Dallas be interested, they could claim him before Chicago.

Zach Wright has been waived just over a month after originally signing the former SKC Academy and North Carolina collegiate player to a Homegrown contract.

DARIXON VUELTO LINKED TO TIMBERS

Originally it was thought that Real España player Darixon Vuelto would be heading to Houston Dynamo, as Rundown reported two days ago, but it turns out that the Portland Timbers are now in pole position for the Honduran.

Considered a rising star of Honduran football, he is travelling to Portland this week to finalise a deal according to Diez.

Any Other Business…

Log Angeles FC are tracking Eduard Atuesta with a view to bringing him in on loan for the season from Independiente Medellin… Former Montreal Impact head coach Mauro Biello has been named Canada national team assistant coach and EXCEL U-23 program director… Sporting Kansas City have come to terms on new contracts with goalkeeper Tim Melia, defender Ike Opara and forward Daniel Salloi.
