TYLER ADAMS TO REPLACE DANIELE DE ROSSI

It’s been a whirlwind 2017 for 18-year-old Tyler Adams. The midfield maestro became an integral cog in the New York Red Bulls machine and made his debut with the United States national team but according to calciomercato.com, he is a candidate to replace Daniele De Rossi at Roma.

The Serie A side have joined La Liga’s Valencia in tracking the teenage sensation. No move appears imminent but it’s expected that bids from Europe’s top clubs are inevitable.

TIMBERS INTEREST IN JULIO CASCANTE

It seems every day another Costa Rican is headed to MLS. As mentioned yesterday Deportivo Saprissa’s Julio Cascante is a target for the Portland Timbers.

The defender is 24-years-old and was an option for the Timbers when they search for a replacement for injured defender Gbenga Arokoyo. Portland would sign Larrys Mabiala and somewhat confusingly, both Mabiala and Arokoyo remain with the Timbers ahead of the 2018 campaign.

Cascante is capped by Costa Rica and has been a member of the Saprissa roster since July 2016.

ALONSO WATCHING FROM THE SIDELINES

Seattle Sounders captain Osvaldo Alonso will miss the MLS Cup final as the Sounders take on Supporters’ Shield-winners Toronto FC.

Alonso suffered a strained quadriceps muscle in September and did not return to action until the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals against Vancouver, where he was a late substitute.

Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer expects Alonso to be a big influence in the locker room while the versatile Gustav Svensson is expected to anchor the team from defensive midfield.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ROBBIE ROGERS

Ex-LA Galaxy defender Robbie Rogers tied the knot with his long-time boyfriend Greg Berlanti in a private ceremony in Malibu last Saturday. Rogers recently retired from a four-and-a-half-year stint with the Galaxy last month.

A few days following the ceremony, Rogers took to Instagram to share his thoughts; “To marry the man I love in front of all of my loved one’s was not something I grew up thinking would ever happen. Thank you to the men and women who made this day possible.”
